Happy Memorial Day Monday May 30th 2016
I hope you have plans to take time with family and friends this holiday weekend. Our offices will be closed on Monday in honor of the brave veterans that have fought for our many freedoms. Our hats are off to you.
Please do not miss the articles on how to use disposable labels or the article on tagging solutions. Best of all, don't miss the video on how to make a hole disappear that has been caused by tagging a garment. This one you must share with your staff as it will save you money and customer complaints.
Now for my corny joke:
April showers bring May flowers. What do May Flowers bring? Answer at bottom of page just below the Memorial Day Specials.

It's flip flop & swimsuit time
Tagging flip flops and bathing suits can be challenging. Using a lanyard laced through a mini tag can be helpful. We also have pencil tags with super thick lanyards if you are concerned about the lanyards being cut.

How to Fix a Hole Caused by Tagging.
It is sometimes embarrassing when you remove a tag and there appears to be a hole in the garment. Some stores have mentioned that they lower the price on an item if they see this hole. No price reduction needed....this is not a hole. The pin has opened up a gap in the fabric threads. The threads are not cut or pulled, just bunched up to one side or the other.
THE FIX: Once the tag and pin have been removed give the cloth a tug diagonally in both directions once or twice to make the hole disappear. This lets the fibers go back to their original location. Click Here to see a short video on this. You can use this video for staff training.
Use as a backup by hiding the label
Sometimes it is good to double tag expensive items such as designer jeans. Cut a label off of the roll and slide it into the 5th pocket on the jean. If someone forces the hard tag off the item, you will still catch them as they try to get by the system with the paper label in the pocket.
Movies, DVD's & items with metal
You want to stay away from the metal in an item as the radio frequency systems will not detect through metal. In the case of DVDs (which have metal in them), you will want to tag the hinged side of the case, in the corner, with the arrow side of the tag (see picture above where blue mark comes into the corner) toward the corner edge of the box. This will get the best detection from the tag because this part of the box does not have the DVD blocking the signal. In the case of batteries or other metal items, either tag at the top of the cardboard hanging card on the back side or hang a hard tag with a lanyard off the side of it.
Ladies High Heels
Care must be taken with heeled shoes because there is a metal shank that goes from the heel up through the arch of the shoe. Tagging in the area of this metal shank will not work because of the metal. A good way to attach a disposable label is to remove the backing so the sticky surface is facing up. Place tag into the shoe toward the toe and press it up so that it sticks in the top of the toe area. This is a great way to hide the tag as well.
