Holiday Decorations & False Alarms
One thing that you will want to be very aware of is the positioning of your holiday decorations as they may cause your security system to false alarm.
Christmas tree lights are notorious for causing false alarms. Do not have them physically anywhere near the towers, and do not have them on the same outlet or breaker.
Also remember that the system you have may be a radio frequency system, and the signal will not traverse metal so be careful how you tag those silver metallic looking purses and dresses. It would be best to put a lanyard with a hard tag that dangles from the item.
Watch for Booster Bags
With so many people in your stores for the holidays, there is a greater chance for them to steal without you being the wiser. Watch for people carrying back packs, shopping bags or extra large hand bags.
Many of the newer lunch bags are lined with a foil liner. Grocery freezer bags can be foil lined as well. Foil can defeat your security system so you should be aware of this.
Customers walking in with bags from another store can be a danger. It makes it easier to place items in that bag and walk out of the store without paying.
Solution: Offer a bag check for the holiday. Use a number system where the customer gets the same number as what is placed on their bag so you can easily match up customer with bag at the end of their shopping. Most customers will appreciate that you care to make their shopping experience easier. You can find such numbered tickets inexpensively at an office supply store.

Cheap way to secure more garments...PINS
Your store will lose pins and bend pins. It is important never to use a bent pin on a tag or you may not be able to get it off with your remover.
Stores will usually need an extra 5 to 10% pins per year in order to be able to use all of their hard tags.
Buy pins today and find that you have a lot more tags you can use. Now that is a cheap way to use more tags this holiday season.
Snow slows down UPS in the North!
Unusual snow patterns this winter have caused delays in some of our UPS shipments. Please order early knowing that there may be snow delays.
Remember although you may not have snow, sometimes the warehouse where your items ships from may have snow. UPS may also have snow problems in a state your package has to travel through.
