Security Systems for Clothing Stores & Boutiques

A clothing-store security system needs to fit your entrance, your merchandise and your checkout routine. SensorTags helps independent boutiques and apparel stores match EAS security towers, reusable tags and checkout equipment before ordering.

All purchases include five years of free remote help by phone, email and text. Parts warranties and on-site installation are separate; check the terms for the equipment in your quote.

Start with your entrance and existing equipment

Measure the clear opening customers actually use, and photograph the doorway from inside and outside. Include door frames, nearby racks, the checkout counter and available power. Tell us whether the entrance is shared, whether the doors open inward or outward, and whether your landlord restricts floor mounting.

If you already own towers or receive pre-tagged merchandise, send the tower model and tag details. RF 8.2 MHz and AM 58 kHz are different systems: matching the brand name alone is not enough. We can review the existing equipment before recommending what to keep or replace. See the AM versus RF guide for the technology comparison.

Tower quantity and placement depend on the selected equipment, tag type and doorway conditions. Keep customer access and required exit routes clear; a photograph and measurement are more useful than choosing a system solely by store square footage.

Choose tags for the merchandise you actually sell

  • Everyday apparel: compare reusable hard tags, matching pins and the weight and size of the tag on the garment. Confirm the tag frequency matches the towers.
  • Delicate fabrics: ask about an appropriate attachment method before placing a bulk order. Check a sample on representative stock; no single pin or tag is suitable for every material.
  • Handbags, footwear and accessories: review lanyards and accessories where a direct pin attachment is unsuitable. Confirm the attachment and tag work together.
  • Boxed items and cosmetics: compatible disposable labels may fit the packaging better than a garment tag. The label type must match the towers and checkout deactivator.

Estimate how many items will be tagged at the same time, including stock being prepared for the sales floor. Reusable tags return to stock after checkout; disposable labels need replenishment. Include new deliveries and spare tags when planning quantities.

Match every checkout station to the tag

A hard tag needs a detacher that matches its locking mechanism. Disposable labels need a compatible deactivation device. AM or RF frequency identifies the detection technology; it does not by itself identify the correct hard-tag remover.

Use our detacher compatibility guide to distinguish magnetic tags, SuperTag models, Gator tags and disposable labels. If the exact model is unknown, send clear photos of the tag and any markings before ordering. Detachers are sold to retail businesses only; U.S. shipments require business verification.

Example: planning a boutique with one entrance

This is a planning example, not a completed customer installation or a fixed-price package. For a boutique selling clothing and handbags through one checkout, the equipment review would cover:

  1. The measured entrance and a suitable tower arrangement.
  2. Compatible garment tags and pins, plus suitable attachments for handbags.
  3. A matching checkout detacher and a spare for continuity.
  4. Labels and a compatible deactivator only if the merchandise mix calls for them.
  5. Mounting, power, delivery, setup and staff handover requirements.

A second checkout or a wider entrance changes that plan. Ask for an itemized quote showing quantities, new or refurbished condition, shipping and any installation work. Our retail security system cost guide explains the main cost categories; current product listings and your quote determine pricing.
